Cost per class is $75 plus a one time $30 intake fee that includes the cost of pulling your credit report. Intake fee and tuition must be paid to complete the registration process and secure your spot. No extra charges for couples.We recommend that you register for both classes if you are referred to us by HANO. If you are taking both classes then the total cost is $180 which includes $30 intake fee and the fee for both the Financial Fitness class and the First Time Home Buyer class. Classes start soon so register today.

NENA's trained Housing Counselor provides assistance with mortgage loan pre-qualification, soft-second mortgage loans, bond money with closing assistance, credit counseling, financial fitness, pre and post budget counseling and homelessness prevention.

About The First Time Home Buyer Class

NENA’s First Time  Home Buyer class is a 12 hour course that is divided into two sessions. The first session introduces the home buyer on the various types of loans; the mortgage process; how to calculate income/debt ratios for maximum loan amount; the Truth and Lending Statement; and how credit affects purchase.
 The second session informs the home buyer about the fair housing laws; home inspection, and appraisal; how to select a home based on needs, wants, and affordability; pre purchase and post occupancy budgeting; understanding the purchase agreement; what happens at closing and how to read settlement statement.

About The Financial Fitness Class

The Financial Fitness Class focuses on helping people manage their finances. It covers daily and monthly debt management and recommends ways for people to save money. Sometimes, people must modify their spending behavior to achieve their financial goals. Some topics include money management, budgeting and reducing unnecessary expenses; credit repair, and building wealth. 
NENA Housing Counseling Agency is approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). NENA is also certified by The Louisiana Homebuyer Education Collaborative (LHEC) which is an accreditation body that ensures housing counseling standards are being met by local agency.
