The child poverty rate in the Lower 9th Ward is 67%. 60% of New Orleans children grow up in single-parent households. The barriers are real — and so is the progress NENA has made by refusing to accept them.
We have built 10 affordable homes, launched a STEM science club for 50 children, hosted health fairs and low-cost clinics, planted trees, fought blight, run book clubs and voter drives, and opened our campus to anyone who needs a safe place to gather, learn, and grow.
